How we got started
My passion for helping the elderly was instilled at an early age. I fondly remember visits to the nursing home to visit relatives and stopping to help or talk to anyone who I thought looked lonely. The precious hours I spent with my grandparents, great grandparents, and other family members as they aged, helped to inspire my decision to become a Speech-Language Pathologist.
I began my career in skilled nursing facilities as a treating therapist and eventually, as a Director of Rehabilitation, where I found my passion for dementia care and fostering meaningful connections with patients and their families. I am blessed by the memory of all of my patients.
I was honored to stay close by my beloved grandmother and best friend's side as she developed dementia and eventually guided my family in caring for her as the symptoms progressed.
My experiences, both personally and professionally, have led me to the creation of Dementia Dialogue, where I continue to look forward to helping someone each and every day.
